In this final episode of the Season of Advent Dramas, we meet Mary and Elizabeth at a park with their toddler sons, Jesus and John.
They will reflect on their first meeting before the boys were born. This drama is a reflection of the story in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 1, when Mary first arrived to visit Elizabeth while they were pregnant with Jesus and John, when Elizabeth greeted Mary with a blessing. In particular, we will hear them reflect on the Joy of the moment and share how they feel as they look forward to all that is yet to come.
Mary is played by Pastor Alisha and Elizabeth is played by Karen Hagen
Focus Passage: Luke 1:39-45
Questions for reflection/Discussion:
1. What does “Joy” mean to you?
2. Mary and Elizabeth were each called by God in their own ways. In what ways has God called you to be part of the story of Jesus?
3. When was a moment in your life when God shared Joy in ways that felt impossible?
4. Where have you found Joy in this Advent season?

Week 2 recording of the Dramas performed during the Season of Advent for the series, "The Light of Grace"
Last week, we heard from Elizabeth and Zechariah as they celebrated their Hope in the Light of Grace. Together, we imagined what it might have sounded like as Zechariah and Elizabeth finished saying goodbye to visiting relatives and had a moment to sit down for their first quiet moments alone with their new baby.
Tonight we meet the Prophet Isaiah. He spoke prophesy to a crowd who had faced many challenges in their life, and felt weary from all that life had thrown at them. Not too unlike what our world looks like today, when you think about it. In his prophecy tonight, which is a reimagined rendition of the prophecy in Isaiah 9:1-7, we hear Isaiah proclaiming about the Messiah, the savior who had not yet come. He reminds the Israelites, and us, that no matter how dark the world seems, we cling to the hope and peace that come from our Savior.
Drama was written and Directed by Pastor Alisha Ungs, and performed by Jerry Jamison.
Scriptural Focus Passage: Isaiah 9:1-7
Questions for Discussion and Reflection:
1. Now that Jesus has been born and we know the whole story, is Isaiah’s message of the Peace to come still relevant? Why or why not?
2. Isaiah proclaims the Lord will walk with us even in the most difficult of times. What does this mean for you?
3. In this season of Advent, what brings you peace when you find yourself in the most difficult moments?
4. Is there anything in Isaiah’s prophecy that you found confusing, frustrating, or challenging? What was it?
